First Peter

  Chapter 1   »

1
From Peter, a hawari of Isa Al-Masih, to those who are living abroad as foreigners in the lands of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia Minor, and Bithynia,
2
those whom Allah, Al-Malik Al-Rahman, chose according to his decree and knowledge from eternity past. He set them apart by his Ruh as holy people, so that they would obey Isa Al-Masih and be purified with his blood. Much peace and grace be upon you.
3
Blessed be the loving king, the Rabb of our mawla Isa Al-Masih! By his great mercy he blessed us with a second birth so that we can live with certain living hope through the resurrection of Isa Al-Masih alive from among the dead.
4
Also so that we can inherit an eternal destiny that does not perish. It is pure and does not become unclean. It is lasting and does not disappear. It is preserved in the garden of baraka for you
5
who are protected by the power of Al-Jabbar through your trust, so that Allah would bless you with the saving mercy that has been prepared, and which will be uncovered in the end.
6
You rejoice greatly in this, despite your various trials in which you may have to be patient for a little while.
7
As fire tests perishable gold and makes it pure, so trials uncover your pure trust, which is more precious than gold. This will lead to praise, splendor, and honor at the appearing of Isa Al-Masih.
8
You love him despite not having seen him. You trust him despite not seeing him now. And you rejoice with surpassing, splendorous, indescribable joy.
9
You now and forever receive the end of your trust, the salvation of your souls.
10
The anbiya searched for this salvation and studied thoroughly, and they prophesied of the grace that was coming to you.
11
They tried to uncover the timing and circumstances that the Ruh of Al-Masih in them was expressing, as they saw beforehand the pains of Al-Masih and the later splendor of his glory.
12
Allah showed them that their efforts in uncovering these matters were not for their benefit but for your benefit. These are matters that in our days were announced to you by the people who gave you good news by inspiration of holy Ruh Allah, who was sent from Allah. Angels wished they could look at these matters.
13
So prepare your minds and be alert. Hang your hope completely on the grace of Allah with which he will bless you at the appearing of Isa Al-Masih.
14
Obedient children of Allah, do not follow the passions of your past when you were jahil.
15
Rather, be holy in everything you do as Al-Qudus called you.
16
For Allah said in the Tawrat: "Be holy, because I am holy."
17
He is Al-Malik Al-Rahman, Mujeeb of your dua' prayers. He judges people justly without favoritism according to the works of each person, so fear him as long as you remain in this world as foreigners.
18
You are certain that you were not ransomed with something perishable, like silver or gold, from the worthless life you inherited from your ancestors.
19
Rather, it was by the precious blood of Al-Masih, which is like the blood of the lamb of ransom, which is pure and free from faults.
20
Allah had chosen him before the creation of the universe, and then Allah showed him as a ransom for you in these last days.
21
Through him, you trust in Allah, who resurrected him alive from among the dead and gave him glory, so that your trust and hope would be firmly established in Allah.
22
You have purified your souls in obedience to the truth so that you sincerely love brother believers. So make every effort to love each other with love from a pure heart.
23
Allah has made you alive by a second birth by his word that is Hayy and Baqi, not with something that is perishable.
24
For he said, "All people are like grass that dries up. All their splendor is like the flower of the grass that falls to the ground.
25
But the word of Allah lasts forever." This word is the good news that was announced to you.
