First Thessalonians
« Chapter 3 »

We could not bear being far from you anymore. So we thought it best to remain in Athens alone,
وَإِذْ لَمْ نَسْتَطِعْ تَحَمُّلَ الِابْتِعَادِ عَنْكُمْ بَعْدُ، اِسْتَحْسَنَّا الْبَقَاءَ فِي أَثِينَا وَحْدَنَا،

and we sent Timothy, our brother and the servant of Allah in spreading the good news of Al-Masih, to strengthen you and encourage you in your trust.
وَأَرْسَلْنَا تِيمُوثَا، أَخَانَا وَخَادِمَ اللهِ فِي نَشْرِ بُشْرَى الْمَسِيحِ، لِيُقَوِّيَكُمْ وَيُشَجِّعَكُمْ فِي تَوَكُّلِكُمْ،

This was so that none of you they are our portion.
لِئَلَّا يَرْتَدَّ أَحَدُكُمْ بِسَبَبِ هَذِهِ الضِّيقَاتِ، إِذْ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّهَا مِنْ نَصِيبِنَا.

We informed you while we were still with you: "We will suffer hardships." You know that this has really happened.
لَقَدْ أَخْبَرْنَاكُمْ وَنَحْنَ بَعْدُ مَعَكُمْ أَنَّنَا سَنُعَانِي الضِّيقَاتِ، وَتَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ هَذَا مَا حَصَلَ فِعْلًا.

So, since I could not bear being far from you anymore, I sent Timothy to check on the firmness of your trust. I was afraid that Al-Shaitan had misguided you, and our hard work would be in vain.
وَهَكَذَا إِذْ لَمْ أَسْتَطِعْ تَحَمُّلَ الِابْتِعَادِ عَنْكُمْ بَعْدُ، أَرْسَلْتُ تِيمُوثَا مُسْتَطْلِعًا عَنْ ثَبَاتِكُمْ فِي التَّوَكُّلِ، خَوْفًا مِنْ أَنْ يَكُونَ الشَّيْطَانُ قَدْ أَغْوَاكُمْ فَيَصِيرُ تَعَبُنَا مَعَكُمْ عَبَثًا،

But Timothy has now returned from you. He gave us good news of your trust in Allah. He also told us that you love us, you remember us always, and you desire to see us just like we desire to see you.
لَكِنَّ تِيمُوثَا قَدْ عَادَ الْآنَ مِنْ عِنْدِكُمْ، فَبَشَّرَنَا بِتَوَكُّلِكُمْ عَلَى اللهِ، وَمَحَبَّتِكُمْ وَتَذَكُّرِكُمْ لَنَا دَائِمًا، وَاشْتِيَاقِكُمْ إِلَى رُؤْيَتِنَا مِثْلِ اشْتِيَاقِنَا إِلَى رُؤْيَتِكُمْ.

Brothers, your trust in Allah was an encouragement from you to us in the midst of difficulties and suffering.
فَكَانَ ذَلِكَ أَيُّهَا الْإِخْوَةُ، تَشْجِيعًا لَنَا مِنْ جِهَتِكُمْ وَسْطَ الْمَصَاعِبِ وَالْمُعَانَاةِ، بِسَبَبِ تَوَكُّلِكُمْ عَلَى اللهِ،

Your firmness in trust in our mawla was life to us.
وَكَانَ صُمُودُكُمْ فِي التَّوَكُّلِ عَلَى مَوْلَانَا حَيَاةً لَنَا.

We feel great joy before our Rabb because of you. How can we give Allah the praise and thanks that is necessary?
فَكَيْفَ نُوَفِّي اللهَ مَا يَنْبَغِي مِنْ حَمْدٍ وَشُكْرٍ مِنْ أَجْلِكُمْ عَلَى كُلِّ الْفَرَحِ الَّذِي نَشْعُرُ بِهِ أَمَامَ رَبِّنَا بِسَبَبِكُمْ؟

We continue to pray in dua' night and day so that we can see your faces and fill in the gaps in your trust.
ذَلِكَ أَنَّنَا نُوَاظِبُ عَلَى الدُّعَاءِ لَيْلَ نَهَارَ لِكَيْ نَرَى وُجُوهَكُمْ وَنَسُدُّ ثُغَرَاتِ تَوَكُّلِكُمْ.

May our mawla increase your prosperity. May he make your love increase for each other and for all people, just like we love you.
وَلْيَزِدْكُمْ مَوْلَانَا ازْدِهَارًا وَلْيُكَثِّرْ مَحَبَّةَ بَعْضِكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ وَلِكُلِّ النَّاسِ، عَلَى مِثَالِ مَحَبَّتِنَا لَكُمْ،

Then your hearts will be strengthened, and you will be blameless in holiness before our Rabb Al-Malik Al-Rahman when our mawla Isa comes with all his holy people. Amen.
حَتَّى يُقَوِّيَ قُلُوبَكُمْ بِأَنْ تَكُونُوا بِلَا عَيْبٍ فِي الْقَدَاسَةِ أَمَامَ رَبِّنَا الْمَلِكِ الرَّحْمَنِ عِنْدَ مَجِيءِ مَوْلَانَا عِيسَى مَعَ جَمِيعِ الْمُقَدَّسِينَ. آمِينَ.
