Second Corinthians

«   Chapter 7   »

1
Beloved, since we have these promises, let us become pure from everything that makes body or spirit unclean. Let us make our souls the complete possession of Allah in the fear of him.
2
Make a place for us in your hearts. We were not unjust to anyone. We did not mislead anyone. We did not take advantage of anyone.
3
I do not say this to rebuke you, since I already said that you are in our hearts until we die and live together.
4
I have much boldness toward you, and I boast much of you. I am filled with encouragement and I overflow with joy in all the hardships that we face.
5
Since the time we came to Macedonia, we found no rest for our bodies, but we suffered from every side: strife from outside and fears from within.
6
But Allah, who aids discouraged people, aided us by the coming of Titus.
7
And not only by his coming, but by your aiding him. For he informed us of your longing, sadness, and zeal toward me, so I was even more joyful.
8
I made you sad by my letter for a while.
9
But now I rejoice, not because of your sadness, but rather because your sadness led to repentance according to the will of Allah, and nothing bad happened to you.
10
Sadness according to the will of Allah leads to repentance, which leads to salvation. There is no regret in that. But worldly sadness leads to death.
11
Look at the result of your sadness according to the will of Allah. It led to extreme seriousness, apology, denial, fear, longing, zeal, and revenge. You showed that you were completely pure in this matter.
12
My letter was not for the sake of the unjust person, nor for the sake of the person who was unjustly treated. It was so that the extent of your seriousness toward us would be made clear to you before Allah.
13
So we were encouraged, and even more so because we rejoiced with the joy of Titus, whose spirit was at rest among you all.
14
You did not embarrass me in any of my boasting to Titus about you. Our boasting about you before him was true, just as our words to you were true.
15
And more love fills him when he remembers how you all obeyed him and received him, though you were fearful and trembling.
16
I rejoice in my confidence in you in everything.
