Chapter 1 »
1
From Paul, who was sent by Isa Al-Masih according to the will of Allah, and from Timothy our brother:
مِنْ بَاوُلَ مُرْسَلِ عِيسَى الْمَسِيحِ حَسَبَ مَشِيئَةِ اللهِ، وَمِنْ تِيمُوثَا أَخِينَا،

إِلَى الْإِخْوَةِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فِي مَدِينَةِ كُولُوسِّي الْمُقَدَّسِينَ بِانْتِمَائِهِمْ إِلَى الْمَسِيحِ: عَلَيْكُمُ الْفَضْلُ وَالسَّلَامُ مِنْ رَبِّنَا الْمَلِكِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَمِنْ مَوْلَانَا عِيسَى الْمَسِيحِ وَبَعْدُ:

We praise Allah, the loving king, the Rabb of our mawla Isa Al-Masih. We pray in dua' to him, and are always thankful for you.
نَحْمَدُ اللهَ الْمَلِكَ الْوَدُودَ رَبَّ مَوْلَانَا عِيسَى الْمَسِيحِ، وَنَدْعُوهُ شَاكِرِينَ عَلَى الدَّوَامِ مِنْ أَجْلِكُمْ،

This is because we have heard of your trust in Al-Masih Isa and of your love for all the holy people.
إِذْ سَمِعْنَا عَنْ تَوَكُّلِكُمْ عَلَى الْمَسِيحِ عِيسَى وَعَنْ مَحَبَّتِكُمْ لِلْمُقَدَّسِينَ أَجْمَعِينَ،

We know that the fulfillment of your hope is kept for you in Al-Janna. You previously heard this in the word of truth (the good news).
حَيْثُ أَنَّ تَمَامَ أَمَلِكُمْ مَحْفُوظٌ لَكُمْ فِي الْجَنَّةِ، كَمَا سَبَقَ أَنْ سَمِعْتُمْ فِي كَلِمَةِ الْحَقِّ، اَلْبُشْرَى

It came to you, and it is bearing fruit and flourishing in all the inhabited world. It is also bearing fruit and flourishing among you, ever since the first day the news of the grace of Allah came to you and you knew it in truth.
الَّتِي أَتَتْكُمْ، وَكَمَا هِيَ تُثْمِرُ وَتَزْدَهِرُ فِي الْمَسْكُونَةِ كُلِّهَا، فَهِيَ كَذَلِكَ تُثْمِرُ وَتَزْدَهِرُ بَيْنَكُمْ، مِنْ أَوَّلِ يَوْمٍ أَتَاكُمْ خَبَرُ فَضْلِ اللهِ وَعَرَفْتُمُوهُ حَقًّا،

This is according to what you learned from our beloved colleague Epaphras. He is a fellow-slave of Allah with us, and a faithful servant of Al-Masih for us.
وَذَلِكَ حَسْبَمَا تَعَلَّمْتُمْ مِنْ زَمِيلِنَا أَبَافَرَ الْحَبِيبِ، عَبْدٍ لِلهِ مَعَنَا وَالْخَادِمِ الْأَمِينِ لِلْمَسِيحِ مِنْ أَجْلِنَا،

He has also told us about your love, which comes from Ruh Allah.
اَلَّذِي أَخْبَرَنَا أَيْضًا عَنْ مَحَبَّتِكُمُ الَّتِي انْبَثَقَتْ مِنْ رُوحِ اللهِ.

So since we heard about you, we did not stop praying in dua' for you. We begged that you will be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual insight.
لِذَلِكَ مُنْذُ سَمَاعِنَا عَنْكُمْ، لَا نَتَوَقَّفُ عَنِ الدُّعَاءِ لَكُمْ، مُتَضَرِّعِينَ أَنْ تُفْعَمُوا مِنْ مَعْرِفَةِ مَشِيئَتِهِ فِي كُلِّ حِكْمَةٍ وَبَصِيرَةٍ رُوحِيَّةٍ،

Then you will gain his rida in everything by behavior that is appropriate to our mawla. And you will bear fruit in every good deed, and flourish in the knowledge of Allah.
لِكَيْ تَنَالُوا مَرْضَاتَهُ فِي كُلِّ شَيْءٍ بِالسُّلُوكِ اللَّائِقِ بِمَوْلَانَا، مُثْمِرِينَ فِي كُلِّ عَمَلٍ صَالِحٍ مُزْدَهِرِينَ فِي مَعْرِفَةِ اللهِ،

You will be strengthened with power according to the glorious, overwhelming might of Allah. Then you will be patient, bear your trials with joy,
مُتَقَوِّينَ بِكُلِّ قُوَّةٍ حَسَبَ قُدْرَةِ اللهِ الْجَبَّارَةِ الْمَجِيدَةِ، حَتَّى تَصْبِرُوا وَتَتَحَمَّلُوا مِحَنَكُمْ بِفَرَحٍ،

and praise and thank Al-Malik Al-Rahman. He made you worthy to inherit a portion with those holy people in light.
حَامِدِينَ شَاكِرِينَ الْمَلِكَ الرَّحْمَنَ، اَلَّذِي أَهَّلَكُمْ لِتَرِثُوا نَصِيبًا مَعَ الْمُقَدَّسِينَ فِي النُّورِ.

In our belonging to him, we have redemption, which is the forgiveness of our sins.
وَلَنَا نَحْنُ الْمُنْتَمِينَ إِلَيْهِ الْفِدَاءُ، أَيْ غُفْرَانُ ذُنُوبِنَا.

Isa is the word of Allah, who absolutely expresses the inner nature of Allah. He is the unique Amir of Allah over all his creation.
إِنَّ عِيسَى كَلِمَةُ اللهِ الَّتِي تُعَبِّرُ بِشَكْلٍ مُطْلَقٍ عَنْ طَبِيعَةِ اللهِ الْبَاطِنِ، وَهُوَ الْأَمِيرُ الْفَرِيدُ لِلهِ عَلَى كُلِّ خَلِيقَتِهِ،

إِذْ خَلَقَ اللهُ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ بِكَلِمَتِهِ: مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ، مَا يُرَى وَمَا لَا يُرَى، سَوَاءً ذَوِي الْعُرُوشِ أَوِ السِّيَادَاتِ أَوِ الْحُكَّامَ أَوِ السُّلُطَاتِ الرُّوحِيِّينَ، قَدْ خَلَقَ اللهُ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ بِكَلِمَتِهِ وَلِكَلِمَتِهِ.

The word of Allah is from eternity past. Everything holds together by him.
وَكَلِمَةُ اللهِ كَانَ مُنْذُ الْأَزَلِ، وَبِهِ يَتَمَاسَكُ كُلُّ شَيْءٍ،

He is the head of the body, (the jama'a of chosen people). He is the one who begins and the firstborn of the people who were resurrected from death. Thus he is superior to everything.
وَهُوَ رَأْسُ الْجَسَدِ، أَيْ رَأْسُ جَمَاعَةِ الْمُصْطَفَيْنَ، وَهُوَ الْمُبْدِئُ وَبِكْرُ الْمَبْعُوثِينَ مِنْ بَيْنِ الْأَمْوَاتِ، حَتَّى يَتَفَوَّقَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ،

Allah had rida that all the fullness of the perfection of his nature lives in him.
إِذْ رَضِيَ اللهُ أَنَّ مِلْءَ كَمَالِ طَبِيعَتِهِ يُقِيمَ فِيهِ،

Through him, he will make reconciliation between Allah and everything in the heavens and the earth. Allah established peace by the blood of Al-Masih who was crucified.
وَأَنْ يُصَالِحَ بِهِ بَيْنَ اللهِ وَبَيْنَ كُلِّ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ، فَقَدْ أَقَرَّ اللهُ السَّلَامَ بِدَمِ الْمَسِيحِ الْمَصْلُوبِ.

But you were previously rejected and enemies of Allah in the depths of your hearts because of the evil of your works.
أَمَّا أَنْتُمْ يَا مَنْ كُنْتُمْ مِنْ قَبْلُ مَنْبُوذِينَ وَأَعْدَاءً لِلهِ فِي صَمِيمِ قُلُوبِكُمْ بِسَبَبِ شَرِّ أَعْمَالِكُمْ،

However, Allah reconciled you through the death of Isa in his human body. Then he can present you in his presence holy, pure, without fault, innocent, and blameless.
فَقَدْ صَالَحَكُمُ اللهُ بِوَاسِطَةِ مَوْتِ عِيسَى فِي جَسَدِهِ الْبَشَرِيِّ، حَتَّى يُقَدِّمَكُمْ فِي حَضُورِهِ مُقَدَّسِينَ طَاهِرِينَ بِلَا عَيْبٍ أَبْرِيَاءَ بِلَا لَوْمٍ،

But you must continue trusting, be firm and patient. You must not turn back from the hope of the good news that you heard. That good news has been announced to all the creation under the sky. I, Paul, became its servant.
إِنْ ثَابَرْتُمْ مُتَوَكِّلِينَ رَاسِخِينَ صَابِرِينَ غَيْرَ مُرْتَدِّينَ عَنْ أَمَلِ الْبُشْرَى الَّتِي سَمِعْتُمُوهَا وَالَّتِي تَمَّ إِعْلَانُهَا فِي كُلِّ الْخَلِيقَةِ تَحْتَ السَّمَاءِ، وَالَّتِي أَصْبَحْتُ أَنَا بَاوُلُ خَادِمًا لَهَا.

I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake. In my body, I complete what was missing in the pains of Al-Masih for the sake of his body (his jama'a).
أَفْرَحُ فِي مُعَانَاتِي مِنْ أَجْلِكُمْ، وَأُكَمِّلُ فِي جَسَدِي مَا نَقَصَ فِي آلَامِ الْمَسِيحِ مِنْ أَجْلِ جَسَدِهِ، أَيْ جَمَاعَتِهِ،

So I became a servant for his jama'a according to the appointment of Allah for your benefit, in order to completely deliver the word of Allah.
فَصِرْتُ خَادِمًا لِجَمَاعَتِهِ حَسْبَمَا وَكَّلَنِي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ لِصَالِحِكُمْ، أَيْ لِتَبْلِيغِ كَلِمَةِ اللهِ كُلِّهَا،

This is his mystery. It was hidden for ages, since distant generations. But now he has revealed it to his holy believers.
اَلَّتِي هِيَ سِرُّهُ الْمَكْتُومُ مُنْذُ عُصُورٍ وَأَجْيَالٍ بَعِيدَةٍ، اَلَّذِي كَشَفَ عَنْهُ الْآنَ لِمُقَدَّسِيهِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ،
27
For Allah willed to announce to them the extent of the riches of the splendor of this mystery among the non-Yahudi nations: Al-Masih resides in you. He is the certain hope of splendor.
إِذْ قَدْ شَاءَ اللهُ أَنْ يُعْلِنَ لَهُمْ مَدَى غِنَى بَهَاءِ هَذَا السِّرِّ بَيْنَ الْأُمَمِ غَيْرِ الْيَهُودِ، إِنَّهُ الْمَسِيحُ مُقِيمٌ فِيكُمْ وَهُوَ أَمَلُ الْبَهَاءِ الْيَقِينُ.

We announce him, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we can present every person to Allah in total belonging to Al-Masih.
فَنُعْلِنُهُ مُنْذِرِينَ الْجَمِيعَ وَمُعَلِّمِينَ الْجَمِيعَ بِكُلِّ حِكْمَةٍ، حَتَّى نُقَدِّمَ لِلهِ كُلَّ إِنْسَانٍ فِي كَامِلِ انْتِمَائِهِ إِلَى الْمَسِيحِ،
