Luke
« Chapter 22 »
2
The leading ahbar and the fuqaha were trying to find a way to kill Isa. They were afraid of the positive response of the people to him.
3
Al-Shaitan entered Yahuda Iscariot, one of the twelve hawariyun.
4
So Yahuda went to the leading ahbar and officers of the house of Allah, and spoke to them about his delivering Isa to them.
6
He agreed and started to look for an opportunity to betray him in the absence of the crowds.
7
It was the first day of the Eid of Unleavened Bread, when the lamb of the Eid of Pardon was sacrificed.
8
Isa sent Peter and John and said, "Go and prepare the dinner of the Eid of Pardon so we can eat."
9
They said to him, "Where do you want us to prepare it?"
10
He told them: "Enter the city. You will meet a man carrying a jar of water. Follow him to the house he enters.
11
Tell the owner of the house: The teacher says: Where is the guest room where I can eat the dinner of the Eid of Pardon with my followers, the hawariyun?
13
They went and found everything as Isa had told them, so they prepared the dinner of the Eid of Pardon.
14
When the hour came, Isa reclined at the table with the hawariyun.
15
He told them: "I have really wanted to eat this dinner of the Eid of Pardon with you before I suffer my pains.
17
Then he took a cup and praised Allah. He said: "Take this and divide it among yourselves.
18
I tell you that I will not drink from the fruit of the vineyard from now until the kingdom of Allah comes."
21
But the hand of my betrayer is with me on this table.
23
The hawariyun asked each other which one of them would do that.
24
Then they argued about who of them was the greatest.
25
He told them: "Kings of the nations of kuffar rule over their nations. Those in power are called benefactors.
26
But do not imitate them. Let the greatest one of you take the lowest position. Let the leader among you be a servant to you.
28
You are those who have stood by me in my trials.
30
You will eat and drink at my table in my kingdom. You will sit on thrones to judge the twelve tribes of Bani Israil."
33
Simon answered him: "My mawla, I am ready to go with you to prison and to death!"
34
Isa said: "Peter, I tell you that before the rooster calls at dawn, you will deny three times that you know me."
35
Isa told him: "When I sent you without money, a bag, or sandals, did you lack anything?" They said: "No."
36
He told them: "But now, whoever has money should take it. Whoever has a bag should carry it. Whoever does not have a sword should sell his coat and buy one.
38
They said: "Our mawla, look! Here are two swords. He told them: "Enough!"
39
Then Isa went out, as was his custom, to The Mount of Olives. The hawariyun followed him.
40
When he arrived to the place, he told them: "Ask Allah for help so you will not fall into temptation."
41
Then he went a short distance away from them and knelt, praying in dua':
42
"Al-Malik Al-Wadud, if it is your will, take this cup from me. But let your will happen, not my will."
43
Allah aided him by an angel that appeared to him and strengthened him.
45
When he got up from praying in dua', he returned to the hawariyun and found them sleeping because they were extremely sad.
46
He said to them: "Why are you sleeping? Get up and ask Allah for help, so you will not fall into temptation."
47
While he was speaking, Yahuda, one of the twelve hawariyun, appeared. He was leading a gang. He came near Isa to kiss him.
49
The rest of his followers saw what was happening. They asked him: "Our mawla, shall we strike them with the sword?"
52
Then Isa said to the leading ahbar, officers of the guards of the house of Allah and the sheikhs of the people who came toward him: "Have you come out armed with swords and sticks to arrest me like a thief?
53
I was with you daily in the house of Allah, and you did not arrest me there. But this is your hour, when the power of darkness reigns."
54
They arrested Isa and led him to the house of the chief habr. Peter followed from far away.
55
The guards lit a fire in the middle of the courtyard and sat together. Peter sat among them.
56
A slave girl saw him as he was sitting in front of the fire. She looked carefully at him and said, "This man was also with Isa."
57
But he denied it, "I do not know him, woman!"
58
After a little while, another person saw him and said, "You are also one of them." Peter said, "No, man!"
60
But Peter said, "Man, I do not know what you are talking about." As he was speaking, the rooster called.
61
Then Isa turned and looked at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word of his mawla when he told him, "Before the rooster calls at dawn, you will deny me three times!"
62
So he went out and cried bitterly.
63
The guards started to mock Isa and beat him.
64
Then they blindfolded his eyes and started to say to him, "Nabi, prophesy to us! Who hit you?"
65
They insulted him with many other curses.
67
They said to him: "If you are the expected Al-Masih, tell us!" He told them: "If I tell you, you will not believe me.
68
If I ask you, you will not answer me.
