«   Chapter 18   »

1
After that, I saw another angel coming down from the heavens. He had broad authority, and his glory gave light to this world.
2
He called with a strong voice: "It has fallen. Great Babylon has fallen. It has become the place where jinn dwell, a prison for all unclean spirits and for every hateful, unclean bird.
3
All nations have drunk the wine of the anger of her immorality. The kings of this world have committed adultery with her. The merchants of this world have become rich from the pride of her abundant wealth.
4
Then I heard another voice from heaven saying: "My umma, come out from her so that you would not share in her sins and be punished with her disasters.
5
Her sins have piled up so that they reach the sky, and Allah has remembered her injustice.
6
Punish her as she has punished others. Give her double what her hands have done. Make her drink double the cup that she made others drink.
7
Make her taste torture and sadness as much as her pride for her splendor and riches, because she said in her heart: "I am a queen sitting on the throne. I am not a widow, and sadness will not find a way to come to me."
8
Therefore, all her calamities will come down on her in one day: plague, sadness, and famine. Fire shall consume her, because Allah Al-Mawla who condemns her is Qawi and Jabbar.
9
The kings of this world who committed adultery with her and became rich from her will weep and mourn over her when they see the smoke or her burning.
10
They will stand far away in fear of her torture. They will say: "Woe! Woe to you, great city, strong Babylon! The judgment of Allah has come upon you in one hour!"
11
The merchants of this world will weep and mourn over her, since no one buys her goods any more.
12
They were goods of gold, silver, precious stones, pearls, linen, silk, purple and scarlet cloth, all kinds of wood, all shapes of ivory vessels, precious wooden vessels, copper, iron, and marble,
13
cinnamon, spices, incense, perfume, ointment, frankincense, wine, oil, flour, wheat, cattle, sheep, horses, chariots, slaves, and people's lives.
14
The fruit that your soul desired is gone. Your riches and grandeur have gone and will not return.
15
Those traders who had gotten rich from her will stand far away in fear of her torture, weeping and mourning. They will say:
16
"Woe! Woe to the great city wearing linen, purple and scarlet cloth, decorated with gold and precious stones and pearls!
17
Her great wealth has been destroyed in one hour!" Then all the ship captains, all their passengers, all their merchants and everyone who worked at sea stood at a distance
18
and shouted when they saw the smoke of her burning. They said: "Is there a great city like this?"
19
Then they put dirt on their heads in sadness, wept, and mourned. They said: "Woe! Woe to the great city! Ship owners had become rich from her riches, but she was destroyed in one hour."
20
Rejoice over her, you heavens. You holy people, hawariyun and anbiya, rejoice, since Allah has taken revenge on her in your favor!"
21
A strong angel raised a large stone, like a millstone, and threw it in the sea. He said, "With this violence the great city of Babylon will be expelled and disappear forever.
22
Sounds of musicians playing harps and other musical instruments like the flute and trumpet will never be heard in you anymore. No tradesmen will be in you anymore. The sound of the mill will not be heard in you anymore.
23
The light of a lamp will not shine in you anymore, and the voices of bride and groom will not be heard anymore. That is because your merchants were leaders of this world. Because of your magic, the nations were deceived.
24
The blood of anbiya, holy people, and those killed in the whole world is in her."
