« Chapter 8 »

When the lamb opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for a period of half an hour.
وَعِنْدَمَا فَكَّ الْحَمَلُ الْخَتْمَ السَّابِعَ، حَدَثَ سُكُوتٌ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ لِمُدَّةِ نِصْفِ سَاعَةٍ.

Then I saw the seven angels standing before Allah. They had been given seven trumpets.
ثُمَّ رَأَيْتُ الْمَلَائِكَةَ السَّبْعَةَ الْوَاقِفِينَ أَمَامَ اللهِ وَقَدْ أُعْطُوا سَبْعَةَ أَصْوَارٍ.

Another angel came and stood at the altar. He had a gold incense burner in his hand. The angel before Allah handed him much incense to offer with the dua' prayers of all the holy believers on the golden incense burner before the throne.
وَأَتَى مَلَاكٌ آخَرُ وَوَقَفَ عِنْدَ الْمَذْبَحِ وَبِيَدِهِ مِبْخَرَةٌ ذَهَبِيَّةٌ، وَأُعْطِيَ بَخُورًا كَثِيرًا لِكَيْ يُقَدِّمَهُ مَعَ أَدْعِيَةِ جَمِيعِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ الْمُقَدَّسِينَ عَلَى الْمِبْخَرَةِ الذَّهَبِيَّةِ الَّتِي أَمَامَ الْعَرْشِ،

The smoke of the incense went up with the dua' prayers of the holy people from the hand of the angel who was before Allah.
وَصَعِدَ دُخَانُ الْبَخُورِ مَعَ أَدْعِيَةِ الْمُقَدَّسِينَ مِنْ يَدِ الْمَلَاكِ أَمَامَ اللهِ.

The angel took the incense burner, filled it with fire from the golden incense burner, and threw it on the earth, and there were thunder, noises, lightning and an earthquake.
وَأَخَذَ الْمَلَاكُ الْمِبْخَرَةَ وَمَلَأَهَا نَارًا مِنَ الْمِبْخَرَةِ الذَّهَبِيَّةِ وَرَمَى بِهَا إِلَى الْأَرْضِ، فَحَدَثَ فِي الْأَرْضِ رَعْدٌ وَأَصْوَاتٌ وَبَرْقٌ وَزِلْزَالٌ.

The seven angels who were carrying the seven trumpets got ready to blow them.
وَاسْتَعَدَّتِ الْمَلَائِكَةُ السَّبْعَةُ حَامِلُو الْأَصْوَارِ السَّبْعَةِ لِيَنْفُخُوا فِيهَا،

And the first angel blew his trumpet, and hail and fire, mixed with blood, were thrown down on the earth. A third of the earth, a third of the trees, and all the green grass were burned up.
فَنَفَخَ الْمَلَاكُ الْأَوَّلُ فِي صُورِهِ، فَأُلْقِيَ بَرَدٌ وَنَارٌ مَمْزُوجَانِ بِالدَّمِ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ فَاحْتَرَقَ ثُلْثُ الْأَرْضِ وَثُلْثُ الشَّجَرِ وَكُلُّ الْعُشْبِ الْأَخْضَرِ.

The second angel blew his trumpet, and something like a huge, burning mountain was thrown into the sea, and third of the sea become blood.
وَنَفَخَ الْمَلَاكُ الثَّانِي فِي صُورِهِ، فَأُلْقِيَ مَا يُشْبِهُ جَبَلًا ضَخْمًا مُشْتَعِلًا فِي الْبَحْرِ فَأَصْبَحَ ثُلْثُ الْبَحْرِ دَمًا،

A third of the living sea creatures died and a third of the ships sank.
وَمَاتَ ثُلْثُ مَخْلُوقَاتِ الْبَحْرِ الْحَيَّةِ وَغَرِقَ ثُلْثُ السُّفُنِ.

The third angel blew his trumpet, and a large, burning star like a lamp fell on a third of the rivers, and on the springs of water.
وَنَفَخَ الْمَلَاكُ الثَّالِثُ فِي صُورِهِ فَسَقَطَ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ نَجْمٌ كَبِيرٌ مُشْتَعِلٌ كَمِصْبَاحٍ عَلَى ثُلْثِ الْأَنْهُرِ وَعَلَى يَنَابِيعِ الْمِيَاهِ،

The name of the star was Bitterness, and a third of the waters became bitter. Many people died from the bitterness of the waters.
وَكَانَ اسْمُ النَّجْمِ «الْمَرَارَةَ»، فَأَصْبَحَ ثُلْثُ الْمِيَاهِ مُرًّا، وَمَاتَ أُنَاسٌ كَثِيرُونَ مِنْ مَرَارَةِ الْمِيَاهِ.

The fourth angel blew his trumpet, and a third of the sun, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars were struck by a blow, and a third of them were darkened. A third of the day and a third of the night did not shine.
وَنَفَخَ الْمَلَاكُ الرَّابِعُ فِي صُورِهِ، فَوَقَعَتْ ضَرْبَةٌ فِي ثُلْثِ الشَّمْسِ وَثُلْثِ الْقَمَرِ وَثُلْثِ النُّجُومِ فَأَظْلَمَ ثُلْثُهَا، وَلَمْ يُضِئْ ثُلْثُ النَّهَارِ وَثُلْثُ اللَّيْلِ.

Then I looked, and I heard an eagle flying in the middle of the sky, saying with a loud voice: "Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants of the earth from the sounds of the trumpets of the three remaining angels who are ready to blow them."
ثُمَّ نَظَرْتُ وَسَمِعْتُ نَسْرًا طَائِرًا فِي وَسَطِ السَّمَاءِ يَقُولُ بِصَوْتٍ عَالٍ: «اَلْوَيْلُ، اَلْوَيْلُ، اَلْوَيْلُ لِسُكَّانِ الْأَرْضِ مِنْ أَصْوَاتِ أَصْوَارِ الْمَلَائِكَةِ الثَّلَاثَةِ الْبَاقِيَةِ الَّذِينَ أَوْشَكُوا أَنْ يَنْفُخُوا فِيهَا.»
