«   Chapter 4   »

1
What shall we say about what our grandfather Ibrahim discovered about this matter?
2
If Ibrahim had been considered righteous because of his deeds, he would have had something to boast about, though not before Allah.
3
What does the kitab say? "Ibrahim trusted Allah, and he considered him righteous."
4
The wages of someone who works are his right, not grace that is given to him.
5
But Allah considers that the trust of the person who does not work, but trusts Allah, the Wahhab of righteousness to the guilty, is righteousness for him.
6
Even Dawood spoke about the baraka of the person whom Allah considers righteous apart from his deeds:
7
"Those whom Allah has pardoned for their disobedience and has covered their sins have a baraka.
8
The man whom Allah will not hold responsible for his sin has a baraka."
9
Is this baraka for the circumcised only or for others also? We mentioned that Allah considered that the trust of Ibrahim was righteousness for him.
10
How was it considered so? Was he in a state of circumcision or before that? He was not circumcised, but uncircumcised.
11
Allah gave him the sign of circumcision to confirm the righteousness that was given to him by faith before his circumcision. So he became the father of all the uncircumcised who trust in Allah, so that Allah would consider them righteous.
12
He is also the father of the circumcised who imitate the trust that our father Ibrahim had before he was circumcised.
13
Allah promised Ibrahim and his seed that he would inherit the land, not according to the sharia, but according to the righteousness given by trust.
14
If the people of the sharia are the heirs, trust becomes empty and the promise is worthless.
15
The sharia leads to bringing the anger of Allah, because without the sharia, there is no disobedience.
16
So righteousness is from trust, so that it would be a gift from his grace. So the promise becomes sure for all ethnicities, not only for those who are under the sharia. It is also for those who emulate the trust of Ibrahim. He is the father of all of us.
17
This confirms what Allah said in the kitab: "I have made you the father of many nations." So he became a father to us in front of the one he trusted in, in front of Allah Al-Muhyi Al-Baith, who said, "Be," and it was.
18
Even in a state of disappointment, Ibrahim became strong in his hope and trust, and so he became the father of many nations, as it had been said to him, "So your seed will be."
19
The trust of Ibrahim did not weaken when he considered that his body was nearly dead, since he was almost a hundred years old, and when he considered that the womb of his wife Sarah was dead.
20
He did not doubt the promise of Allah, but he became strong in trust in Allah and he glorified him.
21
He was sure that Allah was able to fulfill his promise.
22
So Allah considered his trust as righteousness to him.
23
What was written about Ibrahim, that Allah considered his trust as righteousness to him, was not written for him alone.
24
It is for us also, since he will consider it righteousness for us who trust in him who resurrected our mawla Isa alive from among the dead.
25
He was delivered to death as a ransom for our sins and resurrected alive so that we could be given righteousness.
