First Peter

«   Chapter 2   »

1
Put all kinds of malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and lying far from you.
2
Desire the pure, spiritual milk of the word, like nurslings, so that by it, you can grow in the saving mercy of Allah,
3
since you have tasted the goodness of our mawla.
4
You have approached that living stone that was rejected by people. But to Allah, he is honored, precious, and chosen.
5
You are also living stones that fit tightly together and are used in the building of a spiritual house. You are holy, loyal worshippers to present spiritual offerings that give rida to Allah through Isa Al-Masih.
6
This confirms what Allah said in the kitab: "I am putting an honorable, precious, chosen cornerstone in Al-Quds. The person who trusts in him will never be embarrassed."
7
You who trust in him have that honor, but for the others who are disbelievers, as Allah said, "The stone that the builders rejected has become the top of the building."
8
He also said, "He is a stone of stumbling and a rock of hindrance." They stumble because of their disobedience to the word, according to the sentence of Allah regarding them.
9
But as for you, Allah said that you are a chosen tribe, a royal jama'a of loyal worshippers, a holy people, an umma especially for him, so that you can make the greatness of his beautiful names famous. He is the one who brought you out of darkness into his wonderful light by his calling.
10
Previously you were not an umma, but you have become the umma of Allah. You were deprived of the mercy of Allah, but have been blessed with his mercy.
11
Beloved, I urge you as travelers passing through this world to avoid the worldly passions that war against your souls.
12
Let your dealings be good in front of the disbelievers, so that they would see your righteous deeds despite their slandering you as evil. Then they will praise Allah Al-Majeed on Yawm Al-Din.
13
Submit to all human authorities for the sake of our mawla. Submit to kings as the highest authority,
14
and to governors whom he appoints to punish evil people and commend righteous people.
15
Allah has willed that you should silence the jahil foolish people by your good deeds.
16
Be free, but do not take your freedom as a cover for doing evil. Rather, live as slaves of Allah.
17
Honor everyone, love the brothers, fear Allah, and honor the king.
18
Servants, submit with all respect to your employers, whether they are kind and righteous or vile and evil.
19
If anyone bears pains and grief unjustly because of his conscience is pure before Allah, this gives Allah rida.
20
But if you make a mistake and take the punishment patiently, what reward do you have? But you have grace from Allah Al-Karim if you do what is good and take pains patiently for it.
21
For Allah has called you for this, so that you would be mentored by Al-Masih, who suffered death as a ransom for you.
22
"He did not commit a sin, and his speech was without deceit."
23
They cursed him but he did not return the curse. They tortured him but he did not threaten them. Rather, he surrendered the matter to Allah Al-Hakam Al-Adl.
24
He bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we would die toward sins and live in righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.
25
You were like sheep that had gone astray, but you have now returned to the shepherd of your souls, Al-Raqib Al-Hafiz over them.
