Second Timothy

«   Chapter 2   »

1
My son, be strengthened in the grace available in your belonging to Al-Masih Isa.
2
And entrust what you heard from me in front of many witnesses to the hands of faithful, qualified people, so they can teach others.
3
Bear torment with me as a sincere soldier of Al-Masih Isa.
4
A soldier does not busy himself with civilian matters of this world, but he tries to give rida to the commander who recruited him.
5
An athlete does not win the prize unless he complies with the rules of the match.
6
And a farmer who works hard in the field is the first one who should receive his portion of the fruit.
7
Meditate on this saying of mine, and Al-Mawla will give you insight in everything.
8
Remember that Al-Masih Isa, the awaited king from the seed of King David, was resurrected alive from among the dead, and this is the good news that I announce.
9
I also suffer torment for its sake, chained like a criminal. But there is no chain for the word of Allah.
10
Therefore, I am patient in everything for the sake of the chosen people, so that they also can win saving mercy and its eternal splendor by their belonging to Al-Masih Isa.
11
This saying is true: If we die with him, we will also live with him.
12
And if we are patient, we will rule with him in the kingdom. If we deny him, he will deny us also.
13
If we are unfaithful, he will remain faithful, since he cannot deny himself.
14
Remind them of these matters, and encourage them by Allah not to dispute about words, because that is not beneficial in anything. Rather, it destroys the listeners.
15
Be careful to present yourself to Allah as an acceptable servant, not being embarrassed about anything, presenting the word of truth in a straightforward manner.
16
But avoid empty, unclean talk. It will increase the number of people who are addicted to it in disbelief.
17
Their talk will spread like gangrene, as it happened with Hymenaus and Philetus.
18
They turned away from the sirat of truth, since they claimed that Yawm Al-Qiyamah has passed. In this way, they deceive some believers.
19
But the firm foundation that Allah placed remains. It is sealed with his saying, "Rabb Al-Alamin knows those who are his possession." And also, "Let everyone who bears witness in the name of Rabb Al-Alamin avoid evil."
20
In a fine house, there are vessels of gold and silver, just as there are vessels of wood and pottery. Some of them are for honorable usages, and some of them are for lowly uses.
21
So if anyone purifies himself from lowly matters, he becomes a pure, holy, honorable vessel that is useful to his master and ready for every good work.
22
So flee from the passions of youth. Strive after righteousness, trust, love and peace with those who call on the name of our mawla with a pure heart.
23
But avoid foolish, jahil questionings, knowing that they stir up quarrels.
24
Quarreling is not appropriate for a servant of our mawla. Rather, he must be kind with everyone, able to teach, gentle,
25
calm in correcting opponents, so that Allah might give them repentance and guide them to the knowledge of the truth.
26
Then they would return to right thinking and escape from the trap of Iblis, who captured them so they would obey his will.
