Titus

  Chapter 1   »

1
From Paul, a slave of Allah and a messenger of Isa Al-Masih, so I can aid the trust of the ones Allah has chosen and their knowledge of the truth which leads to reverence,
2
by the sure hope of life of eternity which Allah promised them since eternity past. He does not fail to keep his promises.
3
In his timing, he showed his word. By command of Allah, our victorious rescuer, he delegated its announcement to me.
4
To Titus, my sincere son in the faith shared between us. Grace and peace be upon you from Allah, Al-Malik Al-Rahman, and from Al-Masih Isa our ransomer:
5
I left you on the island of Crete so that you could arrange for the remaining matters and appoint sheikhs for the jama'a of chosen people in each town, as I commanded you.
6
A sheikh of the jama'a must be above blame, a husband of one wife, and his children faithful, not accused of moral depravity or rebellion.
7
As an overseer, because he is the agent of Allah, he must be above blame, and not stubborn, irritable, a drunkard, violent, or greedy for money.
8
Rather, he should be hospitable, a lover of goodness, reasonable, just, reverent, self-controlled,
9
committed to teaching the true word, so that he can urge the brothers by sound teaching and refute the opposers as well.
10
There are many rebellious chatterers who deceive people by their words, especially those who call for circumcision.
11
They must be silenced, because they are leading whole families astray by their teaching of what should not be taught, seeking for money that is haraam.
12
One of them, who was a person who prophesied, said, "The people of Crete are always liars, malicious wild animals, lazy, and gluttons."
13
His shahada against them is true. So warn them strongly so that their faith will be strong.
14
They should not pay attention to Jewish myths or commands of people who is a murtadd from the truth.
15
Everything is halal for the pure. Nothing is halal for unclean kuffar, because they are unclean in their thinking and consciences.
16
They claim to know Allah, but they deny him by their deeds. They are disobedient, filthy kuffar. They are failures in every good deed.
