First Timothy

«   Chapter 3   »

1
This saying is true: If anyone desires to be a supervisor over the jama'a, he desires a good deed.
2
The supervisor must be a blameless man, a husband of one wife, moderate, prudent, respected, hospitable, and qualified to teach.
3
He must not be a drunkard or violent, but mild-tempered, not quarrelsome, and not a lover of money.
4
He must be a good shepherd of his family, bringing up his children to obey with all dignity.
5
For if he does not know how to supervise his family, how can he take care of the jama'a of people chosen by Allah?
6
The supervisor must not be recent in faith, so that he will not become proud and deserve the punishment that happened to Iblis.
7
He must have a good reputation among the non-believers, so that he would not bring blame upon himself and fall into the trap of Al-Shaitan.
8
Servants of the jama'a must also be dignified, truthful in their words, not addicted to wine, and not greedy for money.
9
They must hold the mystery of the faith in a righteous conscience.
10
Test them first. Then if no blame is shown, let them be servants.
11
The women must also be dignified, not gossips, moderate, and faithful in everything.
12
A servant should be the husband of one wife, and he should supervise his children and his family well.
13
People who serve well gain a higher position and great boldness in their trust in Al-Masih Isa.
14
I hope to come to you soon. But I wrote to you about these things
15
so that if I am late, you will know how to behave with the family of the kingdom of Allah, which is the jama'a of Allah Al-Hayy. It is also the pillar and support of truth.
16
We give shahada that the mystery of reverence is great: The word of Allah appeared as a man. Ruh Allah gave shahada that he was sinless. Angels saw him. His messengers gave good news about him among the nations. People trusted him in all this world. Then Allah raised him to himself in splendor.
