So Ananias the chief habr commanded the guards standing near Paul to slap him on the mouth.
عِنْدَئِذٍ أَمَرَ حَنَّنْيَا رَئِيسُ الْأَحْبَارِ الْحُرَّاسَ الْوَاقِفِينَ قُرْبَ بَاوُلَ أَنْ يَضْرِبُوهُ عَلَى فَمِهِ.

Paul said, "Allah will slap you, you evil hypocrite, you white-washed wall! Do you sit as my judge according to the sharia of the Tawrat, and you break the sharia by ordering me to be slapped?"
فَقَالَ بَاوُلُ: «سَيَضْرِبُكَ اللهُ، أَيُّهَا الْمُنَافِقُ الْخَبِيثُ الْحَائِطُ الْمُبَيَّضُ! ءَأَنْتَ تَجْلِسُ قَاضِيًا لِي حَسَبَ شَرِيعَةِ التَّوْرَاةِ، وَتُخَالِفُ الشَّرِيعَةَ بِأَمْرِ ضَرْبِي؟»

The people standing next to him said, "Do you insult the chief habr of Allah?
أَمَّا الْوَاقِفُونَ قُرْبَهُ، فَقَالُوا: «أَتُهِينُ رَئِيسَ أَحْبَارِ اللهِ؟»

فَقَالَ بَاوُلُ: «أَيُّهَا الْإِخْوَةُ، لَمْ أَدْرِ أَنَّهُ رَئِيسُ الْأَحْبَارِ، إِذْ قَدْ وَرَدَ فِي التَّوْرَاةِ: لَا تَقُلْ شَرًّا عَلَى حَاكِمٍ لِشَعْبِكَ.»

ثُمَّ أَدْرَكَ بَاوُلُ أَنَّ الْمَجْلِسَ كَانَ مُنْقَسِمًا فَرِيقَيْنِ بَيْنَ الْمُتَحَرِّرِينَ وَالْمُتَشَدِّدِينَ، فَصَاحَ فِي الْمَجْلِسِ: «أَيُّهَا الْإِخْوَةُ، أَنَا مُتَشَدِّدٌ ابْنُ مُتَشَدِّدٍ، وَبِسَبَبِ أَمَلِي الْيَقِينِ وَإِيمَانِي بِبَعْثِ الْأَمْوَاتِ أُحَاكَمُ.»

When he said that, there was strife between the Pharisees and the Sadducees and the group was divided.
وَعِنْدَ قَوْلِهِ ثَارَ نِزَاعٌ بَيْنَ الْمُتَشَدِّدِينَ وَالْمُتَحَرِّرِينَ وَانْقَسَمَتِ الْجَمَاعَةُ،

The Sadducees deny Yawm Al-Qiyamah, angels, and spirits. But the Pharisees believe in all of them.
إِذْ أَنَّ الْمُتَحَرِّرِينَ يُنْكِرُونَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَالْمَلَائِكَةَ وَالْأَرْوَاحَ، أَمَّا الْمُتَشَدِّدُونَ، فَيُؤْمِنُونَ بِهَا جَمِيعَهَا،

There was a lot of noise, and then the fuqaha of the Tawrat from the party of the Pharisees stood up. They said, "We find nothing wrong with this man. Maybe an angel or a spirit spoke to him."
فَحَدَثَ ضَجِيجٌ شَدِيدٌ، ثُمَّ قَامَ فُقَهَاءُ شَرِيعَةِ التَّوْرَاةِ مِنْ حِزْبِ الْمُتَشَدِّدِينَ يَعْتَرِضُونَ قَائِلِينَ: «لَمْ نَجِدْ خَطَأً فِي هَذَا الرَّجُلِ، رُبَّمَا كَلَّمَهُ مَلَاكٌ أَوْ رُوحٌ.»

The disagreement became stronger among them and the military commander was afraid that they would tear Paul into pieces. So he ordered his soldiers to grab him by force, take him out from among them, and take him into the camp.
وَاشْتَدَّ الْخِلَافُ فِيمَا بَيْنَهُمْ، فَخَافَ الْقَائِدُ الْعَسْكَرِيُّ أَنْ يُمَزِّقُوا بَاوُلَ تَمْزِيقًا، فَأَمَرَ جُنُودَهُ أَنْ يُمْسِكُوهُ وَيَنْتَشِلُوهُ مِنْ بَيْنِهِمْ بِقُوَّةٍ وَيُدْخِلُوهُ إِلَى الْمُعَسْكَرِ.

At night, our mawla Isa came to him and spoke to him, "Be encouraged! You gave shahada about me in Al-Quds. You must also give shahada about me in Rome."
وَفِي اللَّيْلِ أَتَاهُ مَوْلَانَا عِيسَى وَكَلَّمَهُ قَائِلًا: «تَشَجَّعْ! كُنْتَ شَاهِدًا لِي فِي الْقُدْسِ، فَكَذَلِكَ عَلَيْكَ أَنْ تَشْهَدَ لِي أَيْضًا فِي رُومَا.»

The next day, the Yahudi leaders plotted against Paul. They swore that they would not eat or drink until they had killed him.
وَفِي الْغَدِ، تَآمَرَ الْيَهُودُ عَلَى بَاوُلَ وَأَقْسَمُوا أَنْ يَمْتَنِعُوا عَنِ الْأَكْلِ وَالشُّرْبِ إِلَى أَنْ يَقْتُلُوهُ،

There were more than forty people who plotted.
وَكَانُوا أَكْثَرَ مِنْ أَرْبَعِينَ مُتَآمِرًا،

They told the leading ahbar and sheikhs of the people, "We made a vow not to taste anything until we kill Paul.
فَأَخْبَرُوا كِبَارَ الْأَحْبَارِ وَشُيُوخَ الشَّعْبِ قَائِلِينَ: «إِنَّنَا نَذَرْنَا قَسَمًا أَلَّا نَذُوقَ شَيْئًا حَتَّى نَقْتُلَ بَاوُلَ،

So you and the members of the highest council should ask the military commander to bring Paul. Use the excuse that you want to continue to investigate his case. We are ready to kill him before he comes close to you."
فَاطْلُبُوا أَنْتُمْ وَأَعْضَاءُ الْمَجْلِسِ مِنَ الْقَائِدِ الْعَسْكَرِيِّ أَنْ يُحْضِرَ بَاوُلَ تَحْتَ ذَرِيعَةِ أَنَّكُمْ تُرِيدُونَ مُتَابَعَةَ التَّحْقِيقِ فِي أَمْرِهِ وَنَحْنُ عَلَى الِاسْتِعْدَادِ لِقَتْلِهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَقْتَرِبَ.»

The son of the sister of Paul heard about the trap, and he went in to the camp and told Paul.
وَسَمِعَ ابْنُ أُخْتِ بَاوُلَ بِالْكَمِينِ، فَدَخَلَ الْمُعَسْكَرَ وَأَخْبَرَ بَاوُلَ،

Paul called the officer and told him, "Take this young man to the commander. He has something to tell him."
فَدَعَا بَاوُلُ ضَابِطًا وَقَالَ لَهُ: «خُذْ هَذَا الشَّابَّ لِلْقَائِدِ حَتَّى يُخْبِرَهُ بِأَمْرٍ.»

The officer took him to the commander and told him, "Paul the prisoner called me and asked me to bring you this young man. He has something to tell you."
فَأَخَذَهُ الضَّابِطُ لِلْقَائِدِ وَقَالَ لَهُ: «اِسْتَدْعَانِي السَّجِينُ بَاوُلُ وَطَلَبَ مِنِّي أَنْ أُحْضِرَ لَكَ هَذَا الشَّابَّ لِيُخْبِرَكَ بِأَمْرٍ.»

The commander took him by the hand by themselves and asked him, "What do you want to tell me?"
فَأَخَذَهُ الْقَائِدُ بِيَدِهِ عَلَى انْفِرَادٍ وَسَأَلَهُ: «بِمَاذَا تُرِيدُ أَنْ تُخْبِرَنِي؟»

He told him, "Al-Yahud have agreed to ask you to bring Paul to the council tomorrow. Their excuse is that they want to continue his investigation.
فَأَجَابَ: «لَقَدِ اتَّفَقَ الْيَهُودُ أَنْ يَطْلُبُوا مِنْكَ إِحْضَارَ بَاوُلَ لِلْمَجْلِسِ غَدًا، تَحْتَ ذَرِيعَةِ أَنَّهُمْ يُرِيدُونَ مُتَابَعَةَ التَّحْقِيقِ مَعَهُ،

But do not be convinced by what they say. There will be more than forty men of them who are waiting. They have vowed to fast until they kill him. They are now ready and waiting for your approval."
لَكِنْ لَا تَقْتَنِعْ بِقَوْلِهِمْ، إِذْ سَيَكُونُ لَهُ بِالْمِرْصَادِ أَكْثَرُ مِنْ أَرْبَعِينَ رَجُلًا مِنْهُمْ قَدْ نَذَرُوا صَوْمًا إِلَى أَنْ يَقْتُلُوهُ، وَهُمُ الْآنَ عَلَى أُهْبَةِ الِاسْتِعْدَادِ يَنْتَظِرُونَ مُوَافَقَتَكَ.»

The commander sent the young man away and commanded him, "Do not tell anyone that you have revealed these things to me."
فَصَرَفَ الْقَائِدُ الشَّابَّ، وَأَمَرَهُ: «لَا تُخْبِرْ أَحَدًا بِأَنَّكَ كَشَفْتَ لِي هَذِهِ الْأُمُورَ.»

Then he called two officers and commanded them, "Prepare two hundred soldiers, seventy horsemen, and two hundred spear men to go to Caesarea at nine o'clock at night.
ثُمَّ دَعَا إِلَيْهِ ضَابِطَيْنِ وَأَمَرَهُمَا قَائِلًا: «جَهِّزَا مِائَتَيْ جُنْدِيٍّ وَسَبْعِينَ فَارِسًا وَمِائَتَيْ رَمَّاحٍ لِلذَّهَابِ إِلَى قَيْصَرِيَّةَ فِي السَّاعَةِ التَّاسِعَةِ لَيْلًا،

Prepare horses to carry Paul so you can deliver him safely to the governor Felix."
وَأَعِدُّوا مَطَايَا لِتُقِلَّ بَاوُلَ قَصْدَ تَسْلِيمِهِ لِلْوَالِي فِلِيكْسَ بِأَمَانٍ.»

Then he wrote a letter to the governor. It said,
ثُمَّ كَتَبَ رِسَالَةً إِلَى الْوَالِي يَقُولُ فِيهَا:

"To your excellency Felix, from Claudius Lysias. Greetings.
«إِلَى مَعَالِي الْوَالِي فِلِيكْسَ مِنْ كُلُودِي لِيسِي، بَعْدَ التَّحِيَّةِ،
27
لَقَدِ اعْتَقَلَ الْيَهُودُ هَذَا الرَّجُلَ وَأَوْشَكُوا عَلَى قَتْلِهِ فَأَدْرَكْتُهُمْ بِمَعِيَّةِ بَعْضِ الْجُنُودِ وَأَنْقَذْتُهُ مِنْهُمْ إِذْ عَلِمْتُ أَنَّهُ رُومَانِيٌّ،

I wanted to know what accusation they had of him, so I took him to their council.
وَقَدْ أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَعْرِفَ تُهْمَتَهُ الَّتِي يَرْمُونَهُ بِهَا، فَأَخَذْتُهُ إِلَى مَجْلِسِهِمْ.

I discovered that they accused him of things regarding details of their law, and nothing deserving death or imprisonment.
فَاكْتَشَفْتُ أَنَّهُمْ يَتَّهِمُونَهُ بِأُمُورٍ تَخُصُّ تَفَاصِيلَ شَرِيعَتِهِمْ، وَلَيْسَ مِنْ تُهْمَةٍ تَسْتَحِقُّ الْمَوْتَ أَوِ السَّجْنَ،

Then I discovered a plot against him, so I sent him to you immediately. I commanded his accusers to state their cause to you."
ثُمَّ تَبَيَّنَتْ لِي مُؤَامِرَةٌ ضِدَّهُ، فَأَرْسَلْتُهُ إِلَيْكَ فَوْرًا وَأَمَرْتُ مُتَّهِمِيهِ أَنْ يَطْرَحُوا أَمَامَكَ قَضِيَّتَهُمْ.»

The soldiers got up and took Paul at night to Antipatris, as the commander had ordered.
فَقَامَ الْجُنُودُ وَأَخَذُوا بَاوُلَ لَيْلًا إِلَى أَنْتِيبَتْرِي تَنْفِيذًا لِأَوَامِرِ الْقَائِدِ.

The next day, they returned to the camp, and the horsemen continued on the way with him.
وَفِي الْغَدِ رَجَعُوا إِلَى الْمُعَسْكَرِ، أَمَّا الْفُرْسَانُ فَتَابَعُوا الطَّرِيقَ مَعَهُ،

When they arrived to Caesarea, they gave the letter to the governor and presented Paul to him.
وَلَمَّا وَصَلُوا إِلَى قَيْصَرِيَّةَ سَلَّمُوا الرِّسَالَةَ إِلَى الْوَالِي وَقَدَّمُوا إِلَيْهِ بَاوُلَ.

The governor read the letter and asked Paul what city he was from. When he knew that he was from Cilicia,
فَقَرَأَ الْوَالِي الرِّسَالَةَ وَسَأَلَ بَاوُلَ مِنْ أَيِّ بَلَدٍ هُوَ، وَعِنْدَمَا عَلِمَ أَنَّهُ مِنْ كِيلِيكِيَّةَ،

he told him, "I will listen to you when your accusers arrive." And he ordered that he be guarded in the palace of Herod.
قَالَ لَهُ، «سَوْفَ أَسْتَمِعُ إِلَيْكَ عِنْدَمَا يَصِلُ مُتَّهِمُوكَ.» وَأَمَرَ بِحِرَاسَتِهِ فِي قَصْرِ هِيرُودَ.
