« Chapter 28
1
Afterward, we learned that the island we had reached was called Malta.
2
Its people welcomed us with wonderful kindness. They welcomed us and lit a fire for us because of the cold and the rain.
3
Paul had gathered fire wood and put it on the fire. But a snake came out of the wood because of the warmth and bit his hand.
4
When the Maltese saw it hanging on his hand, they said to each other, "No doubt this man is a murderer, because he escaped from death in the sea, but the goddess of justice has not allowed him to live."
5
But Paul shook off the snake into the fire and was not hurt.
6
The Maltese expected that he would swell up and die suddenly, but after a long while, they saw that nothing had happened to him. So they changed their opinion and said he was a god.
7
Around us were lands of the chief of the island, who was named Publius. He welcomed us and gave us wonderful hospitality for three days.
8
The father of Publius was sick in bed with diarrhea. So Paul visited him and prayed in dua' to Allah for him. Then he put his hands on him and healed him.
9
Then the rest of the sick people on the island came to him and were healed.
10
They honored us with many gifts and provided us what we needed when we sailed.
12
We arrived to Syracuse and stayed there for three days.
13
From there we went to Rhegium, and the next day we sailed with a south wind to arrive the following day to Puteoli.
15
The brothers in Rome heard that we had arrived to the villages of the Forum of Appius and the Three Taverns. When he saw them, Paul was encouraged, and he praised and thanked Allah.
16
When we entered Rome, the commander allowed Paul to live by himself with the soldier who guarded him.
18
After questioning me, they wanted to release me. They did not find any evidence to support an accusation against me that deserved execution.
19
But Al-Yahud objected, so I was forced to appeal to Caesar, though I do not accuse my people of anything.
20
This is why I invited you for a conversation. I am bound with chain because of the certain hope of Bani Israil."
21
They told him, "No one from Yahudia has written to us about you. And none of the brothers coming from there has mentioned anything against you.
22
But we want to hear your opinions about the doctrine of this sect. We know that people everywhere criticize it."
24
Some of them believed and some of them disbelieved.
26
He said: 'Go and tell this people: You will listen but will not understand. You will look but will not see.
28
So you should know that Allah has sent his saving mercy to other nations. They will listen to him!"
29
Paul stayed in Rome for two complete years.
30
In a house he rented, he would receive anyone who visited him.
31
He announced the kingdom of Allah to them. And he taught them the message of our mawla Isa Al-Masih openly and with freedom.
