«   Chapter 8   »

1
Regarding meat sacrificed to idols, we know that all of us have knowledge. But knowledge puffs up a person, while love strengthens everyone.
2
If anyone imagines that he knows something, he does not yet know anything as he should.
3
But if anyone loves Allah, Allah knows him.
4
Regarding eating meat sacrificed to idols, we know that idols are not gods that have true existence in the universe, and that there is no god except Allah.
5
There are things that are called gods in the heavens and the earth, and in fact, there are many of these "gods" and "masters."
6
But for us, there is no god except Allah, Al-Malik Al-Rahman, Khaliq of everything, in whom we live, and no master except our master Isa Al-Masih, by whom Allah created everything, and through whom we live.
7
But this is knowledge not everyone has. Some are accustomed to eating this meat in worship of idols, and they make their weak consciences unclean in that way.
8
But food does not bring us close to Allah. If we eat it, we are not superior in anything, and if we abstain from it, we do not lack anything.
9
But be careful that your authority to behave freely does not become an obstacle to weak people.
10
If anyone sees you, who possess knowledge, eating at the table in the house of idols, will a person who has a weak conscience not become bold to eat what is sacrificed to idols?
11
In this way, this weak brother, for whom Al-Masih died as a ransom, is destroyed through your knowledge.
12
If you harm your brothers and wound their weak consciences, you harm Al-Masih.
13
So if my brother is hindered because of what I eat, I will never eat meat so I do not hinder him.
