« Chapter 17 »

Then one of the angels who had the cups approached me and told me: "Come, so that I can show you the judgment against the great prostitute sitting on much water.
ثُمَّ دَنَا مِنِّي أَحَدُ الْمَلَائِكَةِ ذَوِي الْكُؤُوسِ السَّبْعِ وَقَالَ لِي: «تَعَالَ لِأُرِيَكَ الْحُكْمَ عَلَى الْبَغِيِّ الْكُبْرَى الْجَالِسَةِ عَلَى مِيَاهٍ كَثِيرَةٍ،

She committed immorality with the kings of this world, and the inhabitants of the earth were drunk from the wine of her immorality."
وَالَّتِي ارْتَكَبَتِ الْفَحْشَاءَ مَعَ مُلُوكِ الدُّنْيَا، وَسَكِرَ سُكَّانُ الْأَرْضِ مِنْ خَمْرِ فَحْشَائِهَا.»

He carried me in Al-Ruh to the wilderness, and I saw a woman riding on a crimson wild beast that was dressed in names of polytheism. It had seven heads and ten horns.
وَحَمَلَنِي بِالرُّوحِ إِلَى الْبَادِيَةِ، فَرَأَيْتُ امْرَأَةً رَاكِبَةً وَحْشًا قِرْمِزِيًّا مَكْسُوًّا بِأَسْمَاءِ الشِّرْكِ، وَلَهُ سَبْعَةُ رُؤُوسٍ وَعَشَرَةُ قُرُونٍ،

The woman was wearing purple and scarlet, and was adorned with gold, precious stones, and pearls. There was a gold cup filled with the filthiness of her immorality and uncleanness in her hand.
أَمَّا الْمَرْأَةُ فَكَانَتْ لَابِسَةً الْأُرْجُوَانَ وَالْقِرْمِزِيَّ، وَمُزَيَّنَةً بِالذَّهَبِ وَالْحِجَارَةِ الْكَرِيمَةِ وَاللَّآلِئِ، وَبِيَدِهَا كَأْسٌ ذَهَبِيَّةٌ مَمْلُوءَةٌ مِنْ رِجْسِ فَحْشَائِهَا وَنَجَاسَتِهَا،

There was a name inscribed on her forehead that had a mystery. The name was Great Babylon, mother of prostitutes and mother of filth in this world.
بَيْنَمَا نُقِشَ عَلَى جَبِينِهَا اسْمٌ فِيهِ سِرٌّ، وَالِاسْمُ «بَابِلُ الْكَبِيرَةُ، أُمُّ الْبَغَايَا وَأُمُّ الرِّجْسِ فِي الدُّنْيَا».

I saw that the woman was drunk with the blood of the holy people and the blood of the martyrs of Isa. I was greatly amazed at seeing her.
وَرَأَيْتُ الْمَرْأَةَ سَكْرَى بِدَمِ الْمُقَدَّسِينَ وَمِنْ دَمِ شُهَدَاءِ عِيسَى، وَانْدَهَشْتُ كَثِيرًا عِنْدَ رُؤْيَتِهَا.

The angel said to me: "Why are you amazed? I will inform you of the mystery of the woman and the wild beast with seven heads and ten horns who carries her:
فَقَالَ لِي الْمَلَاكُ: «لِمَاذَا انْدَهَشْتَ؟ سَأُخْبِرُكَ بِسِرِّ الْمَرْأَةِ وَالْوَحْشِ ذِي الرُّؤُوسِ السَّبْعَةِ وَالْقُرُونِ الْعَشَرَةِ الَّذِي يَحْمِلُهَا:

The wild beast you saw was present, then was not, and he is ready to come out of the abyss and be destroyed. The people of this world whose names have not been written in the scroll of life since Allah created the universe will be amazed when they see the wild beast who was present, then was not, who will appear.
فَالْوَحْشُ الَّذِي رَأَيْتَهُ كَانَ مَوْجُودًا ثُمَّ زَالَ وَهُوَ عَلَى وَشْكِ أَنْ يَخْرُجَ مِنَ الْهَاوِيَةِ وَيَهْلِكَ، وَسَيَتَعَجَّبُ أَهْلُ الدُّنْيَا الَّذِينَ لَمْ تُكْتَبْ أَسْمَاؤُهُمْ فِي سِفْرِ الْحَيَاةِ مُنْذُ خَلْقِ اللهِ لِلْعَالَمِينَ عِنْدَمَا يَرَوْنَ الْوَحْشَ الَّذِي كَانَ مَوْجُودًا ثُمَّ زَالَ وَسَيَظْهَرُ.

This requires a wise mind: The seven heads are the seven mountains on which the woman is sitting. They are also seven kings.
وَهَذَا يَتَطَلَّبُ عَقْلًا حَكِيمًا: اَلرُّؤُوسُ السَّبْعَةُ هِيَ الْجِبَالُ السَّبْعَةُ الَّتِي تَجْلِسُ عَلَيْهَا الْمَرْأَةُ، وَهِيَ أَيْضًا سَبْعَةُ مُلُوكٍ.

Five of them have fallen, one remains, and the reign of the last one has not yet come. When he comes, he must remain for a little while.
خَمْسَةُ مُلُوكٍ مِنْهُمْ سَقَطُوا، وَأَحَدُهُمْ بَاقٍ، وَالْأَخِيرُ لَمْ يَأْتِ عَهْدُهُ بَعْدُ، وَعِنْدَمَا يَأْتِي لَا بُدَّ أَنْ يَبْقَى قَلِيلًا.

The wild beast that was present, then was not, is the eighth, even though he is one of the seven. His destiny is destruction.
وَالْوَحْشُ الَّذِي كَانَ مَوْجُودًا ثُمَّ زَالَ هُوَ الثَّامِنُ، مَعَ أَنَّهُ مِنَ السَّبْعَةِ، وَمَصِيرُهُ الْهَلَاكُ.

The ten horns you saw are ten kings who have not reigned yet. They will be authorized to be kings for one hour with the wild beast.
أَمَّا الْقُرُونُ الْعَشَرَةُ الَّتِي رَأَيْتَهَا فَهُمْ عَشَرَةُ مُلُوكٍ لَمْ يَحْكُمُوا بَعْدُ، وَسَوْفَ يُوَكَّلُونَ مُلُوكًا مُدَّةَ سَاعَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ مَعَ الْوَحْشِ.

They have one goal, and they will deliver their strength and authority to the wild beast.
هَؤُلَاءِ لَهُمْ هَدَفٌ وَاحِدٌ، وَسَيُسَلِّمُونَ قُوَّتَهُمْ وَسُلْطَتَهُمْ لِلْوَحْشِ،

They will wage war against the lamb, but the lamb will defeat them, because he is master of masters and king of kings. Those who are with him are called, chosen, and faithful."
وَسَيُحَارِبُونَ الْحَمَلَ، لَكِنَّ الْحَمَلَ سَيَغْلِبُهُمْ، لِأَنَّهُ سَيِّدُ الْأَسْيَادِ وَمَلِكُ الْمُلُوكِ، وَالَّذِينَ مَعَهُ مَدْعُوُّونَ وَمُصْطَفَوْنَ وَأُمَنَاءُ.»

The wild beast and the ten horns that you saw will hate the prostitute, send her away, strip her, eat her flesh, and then burn her with fire.
أَمَّا الْوَحْشُ وَالْقُرُونُ الْعَشَرَةُ الَّتِي رَأَيْتَهَا فَسَتُبْغِضُ الْبَغِيَّ وَتَهْجُرُهَا وَتُعَرِّيهَا وَتَأْكُلُ لَحْمَهَا ثُمَّ تُحْرِقُهَا بِنَارٍ،

That is because Allah has put in their hearts to do his will by giving their kingdoms to the wild beast, so that the words of Allah would be fulfilled.
ذَلِكَ أَنَّ اللهَ وَضَعَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ لِيَقُومُوا بِمَشِيئَتِهِ بِإِعْطَاءِ مُلْكِهِمْ لِلْوَحْشِ حَتَّى تَتِمَّ كَلِمَاتُ اللهِ،

The woman that you saw is the great city that rules over the kings of this world."
بَيْنَمَا الْمَرْأَةُ الَّتِي رَأَيْتَهَا هِيَ الْمَدِينَةُ الْكَبِيرَةُ الْحَاكِمَةُ عَلَى مُلُوكِ الدُّنْيَا.»
