Revelation

«   Chapter 21   »

1
Then I saw new heavens and a new earth. The first heavens and the first earth were gone, and the sea no longer existed.
2
I saw the holy city, new Al-Quds, coming down from heaven, from Allah. It was prepared like a bride adorned for her husband.
3
I heard a loud voice from the throne saying: "The dwelling of Allah has become with people, and he will camp among them. They will be his umma and he will remain with them.
4
He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no death, sadness, mourning, or pain. The first matters have gone."
5
The one sitting on the throne said: "I am renewing everything!" He said: "Write. These words are a true promise."
6
Then he told me: "The matter has been decided! I am the alif and the yaa', the beginning and the end. I will bountifully give a free drink to the thirsty person from the spring of the water of life.
7
All this is the inheritance of the conquering, victorious person. I will be Rabb to him, and he will be an amir to me.
8
But the destiny of the cowards, the disbelievers, the unclean, the murderers, the immoral, the magicians, the idol worshippers, and all liars will be the lake of fire and sulphur. This is the second death.
9
One of the seven angels who had had the seven cups filled with the last calamities came and spoke to me. He said: "Come so I can show you the bride, the wife of the lamb."
10
So he took me in Al-Ruh to a large, high mountain and showed me the holy city, Al-Quds, coming down from heaven from Allah.
11
It had the splendor of the glory of Allah, and its light was like a precious stone, like a transparent crystal of jasper.
12
It had a huge, tall wall in which were twelve gates. On the gates were twelve angels, and the names of the twelve asbat of Bani Israil were inscribed on them.
13
There were three gates on the east, three gates on the north, three gates on the south, and three gates on the west.
14
Under the wall of the city were twelve foundations, on which were inscribed the names of the twelve hawariyun of the lamb.
15
There was a gold reed in the hand of the one who spoke to me. With it he measured the city, its gates, and its wall.
16
The city was square, and its length and width were the same. He measured the city with the reed. Every side was one thousand five hundred miles -- length, width, and height.
17
Then he measured the wall, and it was one hundred forty-four cubits of a man. That is the same in cubits of an angel as well.
18
The wall was of jasper, but the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.
19
The foundations of the city were square, inlaid with all kinds of precious stones. The first foundation was inlaid with jasper, the second with blue topaz, the third with white agate, the fourth with emerald,
20
the fifth with dark agate, the sixth with red agate, the seventh with aquamarine, the eighth with marble, the ninth with yellow corundum, the tenth with green agate, the eleventh with red topaz, and the twelfth with amethyst.
21
The twelve gates were like twelve pearls. Each of its doors was a pearl. The streets of the city were pure gold, like transparent glass.
22
I did not see a house of worship in the city, because Allah Al-Mawla Al-Qader Al-Jabbar and the lamb are the house of worship.
23
The city does not need the light of the sun or the moon for lighting, because the splendor of the glory of Allah gives it light, and its lamp is the lamb.
24
By its light the nations walk, and the kings of the earth come to its glory.
25
Its gates will not be closed at all by day. Night will not descend on it.
26
The glory and honor of the nations will come to it.
27
Unclean people, those who commit hateful deeds, and liars will not pass over its doorstep. Rather, it is only those whose names are registered in the scroll of life that is owned by the Lamb.
