Chapter 1 »
1
From Paul, a slave of Isa Al-Masih, the called messenger, whom Allah designated for the good news.
مِنْ بَاوُلَ، عَبْدِ عِيسَى الْمَسِيحِ، اَلْمُرْسَلِ الْمَدْعُوِّ الَّذِي خَصَّصَهُ اللهُ لِبُشْرَاهُ

This was according to the previous promise of Allah in the holy kitab by the tongue of the anbiya.
وَذَلِكَ حَسَبَ وَعْدِ اللهِ السَّابِقِ فِي الْكُتُبِ الْمُقَدَّسَةِ عَلَى لِسَانِ أَنْبِيَائِهِ

and with respect to the holy Ruh Allah, he was announced that he is the beloved, mighty Amir by his resurrection alive from among the dead, our mawla Isa Al-Masih.
وَمِنْ نَاحِيَةِ رُوحِ اللهِ الْقُدُّوسِ، مُعْلَنٌ بِأَنَّهُ الْأَمِيرُ الْحَبِيبُ الْقَدِيرُ مِنْ خِلَالِ بَعْثِهِ حَيًّا مِنْ بَيْنِ الْأَمْوَاتِ، مَوْلَانَا عِيسَى الْمَسِيحُ،

Through him, Allah has given us grace and sent us to spread the obedience of trust in him among all the nations for the sake of his name.
اَلَّذِي عَنْ طَرِيقِهِ وَهَبَنَا اللهُ فَضْلًا وَأَرْسَلَنَا لِنَنْشُرَ طَاعَةَ التَّوَكُّلِ عَلَيْهِ بَيْنَ جَمِيعِ الْأُمَمِ فِي سَبِيلِ اسْمِهِ،

Among them, he has chosen you also to belong to Isa Al-Masih.
وَمِنْهَا قَدِ اصْطَفَاكُمْ أَنْتُمْ أَيْضًا انْتِمَاءً إِلَى عِيسَى الْمَسِيحِ.

إِلَى جَمِيعِ أَحِبَّاءِ اللهِ فِي رُومَا الَّذِينَ دَعَاهُمْ لِكَيْ يَكُونُوا مُؤْمِنِينَ مُقَدَّسِينَ: عَلَيْكُمُ الْفَضْلُ وَالسَّلَامُ مِنَ اللهِ الْمَلِكِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَمِنْ مَوْلَانَا عِيسَى الْمَسِيحِ وَبَعْدُ:

I will begin with praise and thanks to my Rabb through Isa Al-Masih because of all of you. Your trust is famous throughout the whole world.
أَبْدَأُ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّي وَشُكْرِهِ بِوَاسِطَةِ عِيسَى الْمَسِيحِ مِنْ أَجْلِكُمْ جَمِيعًا، إِذِ اشْتَهَرَ تَوَكُّلُكُمْ فِي كُلِّ الدُّنْيَا.

Allah, whom I serve with my spirit in the good news of his Beloved Amir, is my witness that I do not stop mentioning you.
وَاللهُ الَّذِي أَخْدِمُهُ بِرُوحِي فِي بُشْرَى أَمِيرِهِ الْحَبِيبِ، هُوَ الشَّهِيدُ لِي أَنَّنِي لَا أَنْقَطِعُ عَنْ ذِكْرِكُمْ،

I pray dua' to him, entreating him continuously, to bless me some day, inshallah, with the opportunity to visit you.
وَأَدْعُوهُ مُتَضَرِّعًا بِاسْتِمْرَارٍ أَنْ يُنْعِمَ عَلَيَّ يَوْمًا مَا، إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ، بِفُرْصَةٍ لِزِيَارَتِكُمْ.

I want to see you so I can give you a spiritual baraka to strengthen you.
فَأَنَا مُشْتَاقٌ لِرُؤْيَتِكُمْ حَتَّى أَهَبَكُمْ بَرَكَةً رُوحِيَّةً تُقَوِّيكُمْ،

The encouragement will be mutual in our shared trust.
فَيَكُونَ تَشْجِيعُنَا مُتَبَادَلًا بِتَوَكُّلِنَا الْمُشْتَرَكِ.

My brother believers, I want you to know that I determined to visit you in order to be fruitful in my message among you as I have been fruitful among the rest of the polytheistic nations, but many hindrances have been happening to me.
يَا إِخْوَتِي الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، أُرِيدُ أَنْ تَعْلَمُوا أَنَّنِي عَزَمْتُ عَلَى زِيَارَتِكُمْ لِأُثْمِرَ بِرِسَالَتِي بَيْنَكُمْ مِثْلَمَا أَثْمَرْتُ بَيْنَ بَاقِي أُمَمِ الْمُشْرِكِينَ، وَلَكِنَّ عَرَاقِيلَ كَثِيرَةً صَادَفَتْنِي حَتَّى الْآنَ.

I am in debt to Greeks and the rest of the polytheistic nations as well, both to the wise and to the foolish.
فَعَلَيَّ دَيْنٌ لِلْإِغْرِيقِ وَبَاقِي أُمَمِ الْمُشْرِكِينَ عَلَى حَدٍّ سَوَاءٍ، كَمَا لِلْحُكَمَاءِ وَالْجُهَلَاءِ،

Therefore, I am excited to spread the good news among you Romans, too.
لِذَلِكَ أَنَا مُتَحَمِّسٌ لِنَشْرِ الْبُشْرَى بَيْنَكُمْ أَيْضًا، يَا أَهْلَ رُومَا.

I am not ashamed of the good news, because it is the power of Allah by which everyone who trusts in it is saved.
فَأَنَا لَا أَخْجَلُ مِنَ الْبُشْرَى، لِأَنَّهَا قُوَّةُ اللهِ الَّتِي بِهَا يَنْجُو كُلُّ مَنْ يَتَوَكَّلُ عَلَيْهِ، لِلْيَهُودِيِّ أَوَّلًا ثُمَّ لِلْإِغْرِيقِيِّ،

Righteousness from Allah appears in it through complete trust, confirming the saying of Allah in the kitab: "The righteous person lives by trust."
إِذْ فِيهَا يَظْهَرُ صَلَاحٌ مِنْ عِنْدِ اللهِ مِنْ خِلَالِ التَّوَكُّلِ الْكُلِّيِّ، مِصْدَاقًا لِقَوْلِ اللهِ فِي الْكِتَابِ: «اَلصَّالِحُ يَحْيَا بِالتَّوَكُّلِ.»

The anger of Allah has appeared from heaven against irreverence and unrighteousness that is widespread among people, since they have hidden the truth by their disobedience.
لَقَدْ ظَهَرَ غَضَبُ اللهِ مِنَ السَّمَاوَاتِ عَلَى مَا انْتَشَرَ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ مِنَ انْعِدَامِ التَّقْوَى وَالصَّلَاحِ حَيْثُ يَحْجُبُونَ الْحَقَّ بِمَعَاصِيهِمْ،

إِذْ مُنْذُ خَلَقَ الْعَالَمِينَ اللهُ الْبَاطِنُ هُوَ أَيْضًا الظَّاهِرُ بِجَبَرُوتِهِ الْأَزَلِيِّ وَجَلَالِ ذَاتِهِ وَالْمَعْلُومُ مِنْ خِلَالِ خَلِيقَتِهِ، فَلَا عُذْرَ لَهُمْ،

Even though they knew Allah, they did not appreciate him as he deserves, nor did they praise and thank him. Instead, their thinking became worthless and their foolish hearts became darkened.
وَمَعَ أَنَّهُمْ قَدْ عَرَفُوا اللهَ، لَمْ يُقَدِّرُوهُ حَقَّ قَدْرِهِ وَلَمْ يَحْمَدُوهُ شَاكِرِينَ، بَلْ أَصْبَحَ تَفْكِيرُهُمْ بَاطِلًا وَقَلْبُهُمُ الْأَحْمَقُ مُظْلِمًا،

They claim that they are wise, and became fools.
وَزَعَمُوا أَنَّهُمْ حُكَمَاءُ، فَأَصْبَحُوا جُهَلَاءَ،

Therefore, Allah delivered them to the passions of their hearts and to uncleannesss, to defile their bodies among themselves.
لِذَلِكَ، سَلَّمَهُمُ اللهُ إِلَى شَهَوَاتِ قُلُوبِهِمْ وَإِلَى النَّجَاسَةِ يُدَنِّسُونَ أَجْسَادَهُمْ فِيمَا بَيْنَهُمْ،

So Allah delivered them to their scandalous passions. Even their women exchanged natural relations for practices that are contrary to nature.
لِذَلِكَ سَلَّمَهُمُ اللهُ إِلَى شَهَوَاتِهِمِ الْفَاضِحَةِ، حَتَّى أَنَّ نِسَاءَهُمُ اسْتَبْدَلْنَ الْمُعَاشَرَةَ الطَّبِيعِيَّةَ بِمُمَارَسَاتٍ مُخَالِفَةٍ لِلطَّبِيعَةِ،

Their men stopped having relations with women, and were inflamed with lust and passion toward one another. They commit gross immorality among themselves, and they deserve to receive in themselves the reward of their error.
كَمَا عَزَفَ رِجَالُهُمْ عَنْ مُعَاشَرَةِ النِّسَاءِ وَالْتَهَبُوا عِشْقًا وَشَهْوَةً بَعْضُهُمْ تُجَاهَ الْبَعْضِ مُرْتَكِبِينَ فِيمَا بَيْنَهُمُ الْفَحْشَاءَ، فَاسْتَحَقُّوا مَا نَالُوهُ فِي أَنْفُسِهِمْ جَزَاءَ ضَلَالِهِمْ.

Since it did not please them to mention Allah, he delivered them to an unclean mind and forbidden actions.
وَبِمَا أَنَّهُمْ لَمْ يَرْضَوْا عَلَى ذِكْرِ اللهِ، فَقَدْ سَلَّمَهُمْ إِلَى الْعَقْلِ الرَّجِسِ وَالْعَمَلِ الْحَرَامِ،

They were filled with all wickedness, malice, greed, and evil; they were overflowing with envy, murder, strife, deceit, and hatred.
فَامْتَلَأُوا بِكُلِّ ظُلْمٍ وَخُبْثٍ وَطَمَعٍ وَشَرٍّ، طَافِحِينَ حَسَدًا وَقَتْلًا وَخِصَامًا وَمَكْرًا وَحِقْدًا،

They are critical, gossips, enemies of Allah, mockers, proud, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents.
وَهُمْ ثَرْثَارُونَ وَنَمَّامُونَ وَأَعْدَاءٌ لِلهِ وَسَاخِرُونَ وَمُتَكَبِّرُونَ وَمُتَفَاخِرُونَ وَمُخْتَرِعُونَ لِلشُّرُورِ وَعَاقُّونَ لِلْوَالِدَيْنِ،

They are without understanding, disloyal, unloving, and unmerciful.
بِلَا فَهْمٍ وَلَا وَفَاءٍ وَلَا وُدٍّ وَلَا رَحْمَةٍ،

Even though they know the just judgment of Allah for death to everyone who commits these things, they are not content with just doing them, but they encourage others to do the same.
وَرَغْمَ أَنَّهُمْ يَعْرِفُونَ حُكْمَ اللهِ الْعَادِلَ بِالْمَوْتِ عَلَى كُلِّ مَنْ يَرْتَكِبُ هَذِهِ الْأَعْمَالَ، فَإِنَّهُمْ لَمْ يَكْتَفُوا بِارْتِكَابِهَا فَحَسْبُ بَلْ كَانُوا يُشَجِّعُونَ الْآخَرِينَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ.
