«   Chapter 14   »

1
At that time, the ruler Herod heard about the reputation of Isa.
2
He told his servants, "This is Yahya. He has been resurrected alive. This is why he does these works of power."
3
Herod had arrested Yahya and put him in prison to give rida to Herodias, the wife of his brother Philip.
4
Yahya had told Herod, "The wife of your brother is haraam to you."
5
Herod wanted to kill him, but he was afraid of the people. They considered Yahya to be a nabi.
6
At the birthday party of Herod, the daughter of Herodias danced and he had rida in her.
7
So he swore a promise to give her whatever she asked.
8
She asked her mother and then said, "Give me the head of Yahya who does ghusl on a plate."
9
The king grieved, but because of his promise to her in front of his guests who were there, he ordered that her request be fulfilled.
10
He sent a soldier, who cut off the head of Yahya in prison.
11
Then he gave it to the girl on a plate, and she gave it to her mother.
12
The followers of Yahya came and took his body and buried it. Then they went and informed Isa.
13
When Isa heard that, he withdrew from there in a boat, heading for an isolated place. But the crowds heard about him, and followed him, walking from the cities.
14
On the shore, Isa got out of the boat and saw the size of the crowd. He had compassion on them and healed their sick people.
15
When it was evening, his hawariyun came and said, "This place is isolated and the time is late. Send the crowds away to buy food for themselves in the villages."
16
He told them, "There is no need to send them away. You feed them."
17
They told him, "We have only five loaves and two fish."
18
He said, "Bring them to me."
19
He commanded the crowds to sit down on the grass. Then Isa took the five loaves and the two fish, looked up, prayed a dua' for baraka, broke the loaves, gave them to his followers, who gave them to the crowds.
20
They all ate and were full. They gathered twelve hand baskets of leftover pieces.
21
The number of people who ate was about five thousand men, without counting the women and children.
22
Immediately, Isa commanded the hawariyun to get in the boat and go to the other shore before him while he sent the crowds away.
23
After he sent them away, he climbed a mountain by himself to pray in dua'. When evening came, he was there by himself.
24
The boat was far from the land. The waves were hitting it, because the wind was blowing against them.
25
Before dawn, Isa came, walking to them on the water of the lake.
26
When the hawariyun saw him walking on the water of the lake, they were terrified. They shouted in fear, "This is a ghost!"
27
Immediately he spoke to them, "Be encouraged. It is I. Do not be afraid."
28
Peter told him, "My mawla, if it is really you, command me to come to you by walking on the water."
29
Isa told him, "Come." So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water toward Isa.
30
But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and started to sink in the water. He shouted, "Rescue me, my mawla!"
31
Isa stretched out his hand and grabbed him. He said, "You have little trust. Why did you doubt?"
32
Then they both entered the boat and the wind became calm.
33
Then those in the boat bowed down to him and said, "You are truly the beloved Amir of Allah."
34
After that, they crossed to the shore by the town of Gennessaret.
35
The people of the town knew him, sent people to the whole region, and brought all their sick people to him.
36
They begged him that they could touch at least the edge of his cloak. Everyone who touched it was healed.
